Great family holidays with a difference

Many hotels mention that they are 'family friendly'- the reality is often different. But at the Maekok River Village Resort, we promise that we can provide a family holiday with a difference and one to remember.

Accommodation

We have family suites available with adjoining double and twin rooms, or for older families, facing double and twin rooms at price which are 25% cheaper than the usual rate for two rooms. Toys and games are provided for the younger members of the family. Stay for three nights at any time of the year and get the fourth night free (just pay for breakfast)

On-site Activities

The adjacent outdoor education centre usually caters for internationals schools, but during holiday times guests can use the range of facilities and activities available to keep youngsters active all day - a climbing wall, a high ropes course, an archery range and a low beams course all provide great challenges, and of course Mum and Dad can join in if they wish. There is also a beach volleyball court, pool volleyball, half court basketball , a sport's field, table tennis room, snooker and pool room. We have a team of experienced instructors on hand and ready to provide the expert instruction and care required.

Off-site Activities

Hiking, biking and kayaking are also available. These activities can range from gentle half day excursions to full day more challenging expeditions. Again, our experienced instructors will guide and lead you.

What else is there to do?

Whilst the children are being expertly looked after, Mum and Dad can visit local places of interest (if the kids are not interested), have a massage or take cooking course in our purpose-built cooking school. And whilst you are learning how to cook a delicious Thai meal, the kids can be cooking their meal, 'jungle-style' in the woodland next to the resort.

Would you like to teach English for a morning?

Some of our guest's best memories have been the experience of teaching English in one of our local schools. Of course guidance and materials to produce teaching resources are provided but it is a challenge, and experiencing the enthusiasm of the students. The appreciation of your input makes it a very worthwhile challenge.

We prefer to organize 'tailor-made' packages for individual families but the package below is typical of what can be offered for a family of four.

• Four nights accommodation in a family suite with English breakfast
• Transfers from and back to Chiang Rai (if Chiang Mai, add 1000 Baht)
• Free use of mountain bikes
• A choice of two of these activities - climbing and bouldering, high ropes course, low beams course, archery.
• A half day hike through the nearby hills (easy)
• A choice of a half day guided bike tour OR a half day kayaking down the Maekok River
• A three dish Thai cooking course for the whole family OR cookery for two and jungle cookout for two.
• A one hour boat trip on the Maekok
